ObjectiveTo explore operational optimization strategies for improving the management level of the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).MethodsAn operational efficiency optimization plan for the PACU, driven by daily data, was developed. The changes in core indicators, including the number of patients with prolonged recovery stays, the incidence of hypothermia, the incidence of abnormal recovery events, and the average monthly overtime hours of nurses, were compared before and after the implementation of the plan.ResultsAfter implementing the daily data-driven operational efficiency optimization measures in the PACU, the proportions of patients with recovery durations ≥2 hours, endotracheal tube indwelling durations ≥1 hour, and post-extubation retention durations ≥1 hour decreased (P< 0.05). Additionally, the incidence of hypothermia and abnormal recovery events among recovering patients declined (P< 0.05). Furthermore, the average monthly overtime hours of PACU nurses decreased from (22.38 ± 4.22) hours to (13.84 ± 4.12) hours (P< 0.05).Conclusion The daily data-driven operational efficiency optimization strategy for the PACU can effectively improve resource allocation, enhance operational efficiency, reduce the incidence of hypothermia and abnormal events, enhance recovery safety, and alleviate the workload of nursing staff.
