Abstract:
ObjectiveTo explore the relationship among self-efficacy, social support and information literacy of clinical nurses.MethodsGeneral questionnaire, self-efficacy scale, social support scale and information literacy questionnaire were used to investigate 3 480 clinical nurses from 30 hospitals in Shaanxi Province. The structural equation model among them was constructed.ResultsClinical nurses scored 25.42¡À6.93 in self-efficacy, 43.63¡À8.57 in social support and 114.18¡À18.62 in information literacy. There was significant positive correlation among self-efficacy, social support and information literacy (P < 0.01). According to the structural equation model, nurses' self-efficacy had a direct promotion effect on information literacy (¦Â=0.11, P < 0.01) and an indirect promotion effect on information literacy (¦Â=0.06, P < 0.01), while social support had a direct promotion effect on information literacy (¦Â=0.24, P < 0.01).Conclusion The level of information literacy of clinical nurses was low, and self-efficacy and social support can improve the level of information literacy of nurses. The direct and indirect role of self-efficacy and social support in the improvement of information literacy should be given full play.
